lithosphere == what is the meaning of lithospher?

Earth cutaway from core to exosphere.
The lithosphere is the crust and the upper part of the mantle which is joined to the crust. (See picture and article)- If that explanation is still too difficult for you please ask further questions. If you can simplify that please do so.
