Introduction Section
[change source]I made few changes to the introduction section in Simple English Wikipedia. I hope that you will like it. I think that Poland's Introduction section in Simple English Wikipedia also looks good now. --Thomaspca 05:37, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- Do you have any questions about the Poland's introduction section. --Thomaspca 05:46, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
I love this. Poland is a country! In Europe.
Cracow wasn't the fist capital of Poland. It was Gniezno
Solidarnosc
[change source]Wasn't a political party, it was independent trade union and between these two are big difference.
- You're right, but in years 1997 - 2001 in Sejm was political party coalition called AWS - Akcja Wyborcza Solidarność (Solidarity Electoral Action).San.k7 (talk) 11:11, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
Infobox
[change source]Maybe someone who can do that could change information about Poland from present to an infobox (see United Kingdom or USA). Papapolak (talk) 12:31, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
People's Republic of Poland
[change source]People Republic of Poland (sic) can be merged here. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than I am about the subject can handle that. StevenJ81 (talk) 22:18, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- Two different countries. Should not be moved. Just like you would not merge Russia and the Soviet Union. -DJSasso (talk) 20:21, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- For the record, I see your point, but don't agree. "Soviet Union" was always more than Russia. Separate question if I would merge articles on the Soviet-era RSFSR and the modern Russian Federation. Really, my feeling was that there wasn't enough in the article Polish People's Republic to warrant an own-article, vs. its being incorporated into the history section of this article. But I don't care enough to argue the point. StevenJ81 (talk) 21:00, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- DJSasso is right, believe me. I used to live in PRL. It was a satellite state of the Soviet Union, governed by one party: "PZPR". No democracy, no free elections, no major private business, widespread censorship but no unemployment. 85.193.232.158 (talk) 02:54, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

The first line, several problems
[change source]"Poland is a country in the central region of Central Europe." Isn't "Poland is a country in Central Europe" better? The reference does not contain such phrase. Xx236 (talk) 10:04, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
- I have restored "the eastern region".Xx236 (talk) 10:08, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
- I have removed "Much of the territory that now makes up Central European states used to belong to that Commonwealth.", completely wrong statement.Xx236 (talk) 10:19, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
Emigration
[change source]There were several waves:
- during the war;
- Jews after the war and in 1968;
- during martial law 1982, political and economical;
- purely economical since 1989, as the result of Communist economy and radical privatisation. Xx236 (talk) 10:26, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
