Talk:Sacred cow
Appearance
- This page as it stands is more or less nonsense. It talks about the cow as a sacred animal in Hinduism. That is not what the phrase means in English. In English it is an ironical figure of speech for something immune from question or criticism, especially unreasonably so. Macdonald-ross (talk) 20:17, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
- It is quite pointless to have all the detail on the page if you do not deal with its only colloquial use in English. Macdonald-ross (talk) 17:04, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
- Good afternoon, Macdonald-ross, I neglected to read your comment on this talk page before atempting to copy-edit the introduction. Apology, please. As you communicated to me recently, "you raise several issues" Although Hinduism is not an area in which I have knowledge, I could venture into this gingerly. I have some demonstrated ability to compose content in areas outside my interests. Do you have proposals, since the article title itself is "Sacred cow"? Sincerely, Fylbecatulous talk 17:21, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
- PS, and I do understand the irony, but usually write on Simple with the assumption that learners of E-S-L and younger in age readers do not grasp nuance and irony. Thanks, Fylbecatulous talk 17:25, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
