Imaginary friend...
[change source]Hi. I wanted to inquire about something in this article. The article mentions Anne writing to an imaginary friend. I don't know how this came about or where the reference to this is. I have read the original Dutch version of the Diary (Het Achterhuis), and my understanding of it was that she was writing the entries to the actual diary, as if the diary was her friend. She even named it Kitty. She first mentioned that she wanted the diary to be her girl friend, and that it was called Kitty, on 20th June 1942 in her entry: (Translated from Dutch)
"Hence this diary. Now to heighten the idea of a long awaited girlfriend in my fantasy, I don't just want to put the facts in this diary like everyone else, but wants this diary to be the girlfriend herself and that girlfriend is called Kitty."
Does this count as it being an imaginary friend, or is it more as if she was writing the letters to her diary as if it were her friend, rather than imagining it to be a person? DaneGeld (talk) 00:58, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
