Te Wharehuia Milroy

James Te Wharehuia Milroy CNZM QSO (24 July 1937 – 7 May 2019) was a New Zealand academic. He is best known for his work as an expert in the Māori language. He worked and lectured at the University of Waikato in the Māori Department. In 2003, he was made a Companion of the Queen's Service Order for public services. He was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2012. A Māori man himself, he was from a Ngāi Tūhoe background.

Milroy died on 7 May 2019, at the age of 81.[1][2]
