Template:Chess diagram alt text/doc

This is a documentation subpage for Template:Chess diagram alt text.
It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

This template takes 2 arguments:

{{{1}}} is the cell number, e.g. "a1", "b8", etc.
{{{2}}} is the icon reference, e.g.: "kd", "kl", "bl", etc.

It produces alt text. Cells with content read like "b8 black king".

Empty cells - which are just spaces or "__" - have no alt text (they emit |link= to fit with alt text guidelines.
