Tomato sauce

Tomato sauce is the name for a sauce that is mainly made from tomatoes. It is usually part of a dish, but it can also be the base for other condiments.

It is used for dishes such as pasta al pomodoro but it can also be used for sauces like arrabiata sauce (which is a spicy tomato sauce).
