User:Desertborn/Template:Welcome
Hello Desertborn! I'm an active editor here. Thank you for your changes. I just wanted to stop by and welcome you to Wikipedia!
As you make changes around here, you might have questions. I know I sure did when I started. When you do, please feel free to ask them on Wikipedia:Simple talk. We also have a nice guide to help you get started, with a good amount of helpful information. It's called Wikipedia:Simple start. You can also check out what I use when working here.
Oh, and one last thing. You can leave messages on pages like this, which we call talk pages. Each user has one, and each other page does too. When you leave a message, we ask that you sign your messages. You can do this by using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically add your username and the date after your post.
I hope you enjoy editing here!
This template should always be substituted (i.e., use {{subst:User:Desertborn/Template:Welcome}}). |
What this is
[change | change source]This is a personal template I made to welcome new users. But anyone else is welcome to use it too.
I made this since I didn't favor any of the existing welcome templates. It is based on Template:Welcome-personal but with a few changes. The main difference is that this one points the new user to Simple talk when they need help.
Usage
[change | change source]Place {{subst:User:Desertborn/Template:Welcome|YOURUSERNAME}}
on a new user's talk page, where YOURUSERNAME is your user name.
Advanced usage
[change | change source]If you would like to add an extra message in the middle, use:
{{subst:User:Desertborn/Template:Welcome|YOURUSERNAME|middle message}}
If you would like to add an extra message in the middle and bottom, use:
{{subst:User:Desertborn/Template:Welcome|YOURUSERNAME|middle message|bottom message}}
