Multiple Accounts
[change | change source]When you log out, a page loads that says you've logged out. After that it says, "You can continue to use Wikipedia anonymously, or you can log in again as the same or as a different user." I was wondering... why would you want multiple accounts? Panda Bear 20:43, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
English User account
[change | change source]I was going to make an account on the English Wikipedia with the same name, but there was already an account named "Panda bear." But he/she never made any edits, and he/she created the account on 20:03, 20 August 2006. Panda Bear 01:01, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

I don't quite follow you. I've never heard of the word Sindhish. Are you claiming that Sindhish is a synonym for simple English? - BrownE34 talk contribs 18:21, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
== Simple English requires a name ,like you havea name . Sindhish is a synonym for simple English . To spread in schools as a subject .Try to understand ==
Simple English is the language which we Indians speak . Using about 100,000 words we speak . Then why Teach and Learn Ten lakh words and idioms of English language ........IN SCHOOLS
because english is an extremely complicated language with numerous confusing rules. I caught onto french faster than I did to english & I've known & spoke english since birth!
I was quite surprised to find this question from you on the German site for Yahoo Answers called Yahoo! Clever. Teaching English in the US is quite a task because it is such a comprehensive job in comparison to some other curricular areas. English teachers are expected to cover reading to include comprehension, vocabulary, Greek and Latin roots, fact vs. opinion, main idea, details, etc.
Literature ties right in with reading. We cover many genre including various types of poetry, short stories, novels, plays, essays, and each of these forms includes literary terms students must learn and recognize. Of course, comprehension ties in here, and students must learn to recognize characterization, dialogue, descriptive, narrative techniques as well as passages that set tone, mood, add foreshadowing, etc.
Then we must also cover writing. This begins at the basic level of why one group of words is a sentence and another is not. It continues through types of phrases, clauses and sentences. Once we have covered basic structure of a paragraph, we embark upon the essay, being sure to cover informative, descriptive and persuasive. But writing does not end there. In English class we also teach students to write creatively so we need to find time to write poetry and short stories. Learning to do research also usually falls into the English curriculum as does learning how to do a research paper. Oral reports and group projects must be fit in as well.
Are we done? No! In order for students to understand how to improve their grammar and syntax, they must have a good grasp of those areas, so despite how many times they may have been exposed in the past, most students need a review of parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation, the most common types of grammatical errors, and so forth.
Now in most American classroom, and I believe in most English ones as well, a number of students will speak English as a second language. Some will be functioning significantly below grade level even if English is their first language. Consider the vast amount of curriculum to cover and the varied needs of learners, and it is no wonder that the English teacher feels time pressure to fit it all in.
I feel that I must add one more sad lament. I have retired after teaching high school for more than 30 years. During that time, Americans in general (not just teens!) have read less and less. A great number of our students come to us with lower skills, but policy makers have higher and higher expectations of what they should be able to accomplish within four years of high school. What is the answer? I believe we have to stop social promotion in the elementary schools if students have not mastered specific tasks/material. Then and only then can we have higher expectations of content area teachers in high schools.
The first English grammar book had several silly rules, based on Latin; for example, since the infinitive in Latin is a single word, it's impossible to split it. No reason not to do so in English. It's often awkward to keep that rule. I like Winston Churchill's thinking on the rule about not ending a sentence with a preposition: That's the sort of mindless pedantry up with which I will not put.

Change on Socialism
[change | change source]Yes, as I said, Hitler HATED communists. Along with Jews, they were his most hated group. Take for example the story of Horst Wessel. I suggest using the Khmer Rouge instead.
Also, could you explain your most recent reversion? Ionius Mundus 21:41, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Alright, I won't argue that. But what about everything else?Ionius Mundus 21:45, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Oh, sorry, I forgot to send the change in the first place. Ionius Mundus 21:51, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, socialism as I know it is a precursor to communism, and Hitler hated communism, but I see what you're saying. It was a different type of socialism. Ionius Mundus 21:54, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
You're definitely right about that. When I have time, I might simplify it a bit. Ionius Mundus 21:59, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

You turn my stomach
[change | change source]lOOk, my itl' cousin was on the computer and I had to use the washroom. And then you say I gave you a stonewall of an explanation ? What does that even mean ? And ugh, for your benefit I will bold articles to death. And yes it is immature, but what do you accomplish on wiki ? You won't tell us how many articles you've added or edited, so are you an anti-vandal user ?
Stonewall means you were acting like a stone wall, that is to say not responding. If you want to see my edit count or my contributions then click on my contribs button on my signature. Or if you want the short version, click on My user page and you'll see a summary of my contributions. I don't think you're a serious editor, and I don't understand why me asking you why you violated rules by changing others user pages made you mad so quickly. - BrownE34 talk contribs 17:19, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Living Language
[change | change source]Hello, Bonjour, Hola, Salve and Konnichiwa. (Salve is a Latin word. You figure out the word.) To brush up on your Français and Español, and to learn other languages if you decide you want to, you could try Living Language. Here is their website. They have a virtual bookstore, but you can go to a physically existing one to buy their products. Panda Bear 04:58, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi. Please can you unblock 68.43.91.73 for the time being, since this is Liam.gloucester? I need time to talk to Liam and discuss his behaviour and it isn't helpful if he is blocked. Thank you. Billz (Talk) 21:55, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you. I need to talk to him and he's on his final warning, so if he makes one more wrong move, he will be facing a long block on both his IP and his username. Billz (Talk) 22:03, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks

[change | change source]When I saw Special:Ipblocklist I saw that you blocked User:Caleb Stockwell. Your explanation was "vandalism", but when I looked at his Contribs. section, I saw he had none. Please explain the "vandalism" here. Ιονας Δ. Ρανδ 04:44, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
It's hard to remember the circumstances of a block done over a month ago. It appears I believed an IP created the user name to escape a block, but I really have no idea other than I felt justified at the time and no one said anything to me about it then. - BrownE34 talk contribs 14:58, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

[change | change source]How do you add messages like {{test2a}}? Do you add them by hand? (I'm asking this because you don't seem to use a user javascript, like monobook.js) - Huji reply 17:15, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- Although you might still prefer to type them, I think Wikipedia:Vandalism#Antivandalism Tools can help you, specially because it does every thing in one click, and adds the summary itself too. - Huji reply 18:45, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
Thank you
[change | change source]Dear Browne34, I thank you for supporting me in my request for bureaucratship, which eventually did not suceed. Nope, I don't use the word failure here. Failure comes only when you fail to realise, when you fail to continue. It has been a great experience here and I will still continue my job here. I know, it's not that you disapprove of me, but it's that we do not need anymore bureaucrats. Sure, I'm open. I'm really fine with that. I'm sorry if my response came late. School camps and donation drives have geld me up, I'm sorry. Thank you once again!-- Tdxiang 02:42, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Baker edit
[change | change source]I'd ask you to stop vandalizing the page, you wrote that John Holman was poor boxer, when in fact he was in the top five and a contender, also thunderstruck, check newspaper sources which reported the fight, it is the exact word which was used in the newspapers. Bad edits and follow the rules for a change. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.21.86.233 (talk • contribs)
Baker article
[change | change source]Probably a good idea to protect it. I see you had some problems with Freddy reappearing, doing his usual by masquerading under anonymous IPs. It may even be a good idea to delete the Baker article altogether. He isn't a very notable boxer and I'm not sure he merits inclusion in the Simple English Wiki. MKil 19:28, 25 July 2007 (UTC)MKil
- I'd be careful with Mkil, (after doing the internet search) He is known to cause problems, I'd be very careful with his edits, he is known to destroy articles and make his own edits, definitely not a good historian and trouble maker. Look how much information he deleted from the Baker page, you should revert that. I have evidence for the reverts. The current version is incomplete. And I am only using one IP, I am not masquerading. If you want me to rewrite it, let me know, i published stories for boxing magazines in the past. Mkil aka Paul vandal- deleted important dates.
- Baker is a very notable boxer and I can show you lots of evidence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.22.228.137 (talk • contribs)

- In the sexual reproduction article, are all these "bestiality" and "sex as power" bits really necessary? I mean, why not put all the warped things people do, necrophilia and fecal matter etc, in there as well then? This is a really touchy subject and maybe I'm overreacting, but honestly, sex as power?!
