This WikiProject is no longer active, as it's goal was reached.

This project is here to help the Simple English Wikipedia defend itself against vandals, to overall improve the quality of anti-vandalism, and to help get this Wikipedia active.

Goals

1. Prevent as much vandalism as we can.
2. Prevent unhelpful edits from remaining visible for long periods of time
3. Ensure that people don't come to the Simple Wikipedia to play around with the whole wiki as their sandbox.
4. Attract more constructive editors to the Simple Wikipedia.
5. Expand and improve the encyclopedia.

To Do

RevitalizeBot

• Reestablish a recent changes patrol bot.
  • If possible, have the bot mark nonsense and vandalism new pages for QD
    • Get datasets for Cluebot to use to "label edits"  Doing... see below ("Edit Quality Campaign")
  • Achieve approval for the bot from bureaucrats.  On hold until bot is finished in development.

• NOTE: This may be a "backup" bot, to act in case ChenzwBot is down again, since Chenzw is back.

Ideas

Ideas for how to combat vandalism and revitalize the Simple English Wikipedia: ofo

• Add a form of EN:ACTRIAL where only registered users can create articles, to combat the many unconstructive articles created by IP’s.
• Write some useful editing guides for 1) users from en-wiki; and 2) new editors; and 3) editors from some other language wiki.
• Expand the Simple English Wikipedia policy slightly, to make things clearer, and to avoid having to refer to en-wiki policy.
• Work through the Special pages Maintenance reports, particularly Articles in Pages not connected to items to identify and treat pages abandoned shortly after creation, of two sorts:
  • With Wikidata item, probably notable: tag page with templates that sort into categories for attention to particular defects; and
  • Without Wikidata item: review notability and possible alternate page name; create item and proceed as above.
