why delete deji?

[change source]

I'm genuinely curious on why you got that page deleted I need that for a project! Peanutbuttermaster5526 (talk) 04:25, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Peanutbuttermaster5526: It was deleted due to the discussion at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2024/Deji because it didn't show that the subject was notable. Articles need to be about topics that are notable according to Wikipedia:Notability, the guideline on notability. In this case, Wikipedia:Notability (people) would also apply.
If you would like the page restored, you can request it at WP:Deletion review. -- Auntof6 (talk) 07:42, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Auntof6, I'm back after some severe mental illness. How are you my friend? --IWI (talk) 15:06, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@ImprovedWikiImprovment: Welcome back. I'm doing OK. Sorry to hear about your illness. I can sympathize to a small degree. -- Auntof6 (talk) 15:14, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's good to still see you around mate. Merry Christmas. --IWI (talk) 23:39, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Flood flag

[change source]

Hi, could I please have flood flag again to make the same edits I tried to make a few days ago? Those are

For all articles in Category:Communes in Aisne which contain "in the region Picardie", I want to change "in the region Picardie" to "in the region Hauts-de-France".

I should be able to do it in one hour. I can make a few edits first to make sure that the flood flag is working.

I could start anytime between now and 05:00 UTC. Violesse (talk) 00:50, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Violesse: Yes. Give me a minute to get to a good stopping point on something I'm doing. Stand by. -- Auntof6 (talk) 00:51, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Violesse: OK, you have it for an hour. If it doesn't look like it's working, try logging out and back in. In either case, I'd appreciate a note here to let me know if it's working. -- Auntof6 (talk) 00:54, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It seems like my last two edits are hidden. I think the problem was the method I was using to edit (through the API) does not seem to work with flood flag, but it works if I make the edits manually. Violesse (talk) 01:01, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Violesse: OK. Are you going to continue manually then? If it's too tedious, I could automate it through AWB and do it for you. -- Auntof6 (talk) 01:02, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know how tedious it is to do it through AWB, but that may be better. I was just finding and replacing the exact wikitext that I mentioned above. Violesse (talk) 01:03, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not that tedious with AWB. I just need to set up a simple find-and-replace command, then I can run through them and all I'd need to do is visually verify the change and click save. -- Auntof6 (talk) 01:05, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. In that case, you can remove my flood flag. Violesse (talk) 01:06, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Violesse: OK, flood flag removed. I'll get on it right now and let you know when it's done. I'll use what you did as an example. -- Auntof6 (talk) 01:07, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Violesse: Changes done. Let me know if you see any problems with it. I also did some minor cleanup on 2 or 3 of them, and simplified some wording. -- Auntof6 (talk) 01:57, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The ones I looked at were correct. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Violesse (talk) 01:59, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Violesse: You're welcome. Do you think we're up to date on all the region names now? -- Auntof6 (talk) 02:01, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Auntof6 Not all of them. In Category:Communes in Calvados and Category:Former communes in Calvados, about 600 pages need to be changed from "Basse-Normandie" to "Normandy" (or "Normandie" - I don't know if it's the policy here to use the English or French spelling). There are some other groups to be changed but they're smaller numbers. Violesse (talk) 02:06, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

BZPN (talk) 17:43, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, @BZPN. Same to you. -- Auntof6 (talk) 19:21, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wait...

[change source]

I was going to edit the Freedom Caucus page before you deleted it, I added a wait template on the article and you did not even check the talk page, you just seemed to ignore it. Jayden Johnson 2314 (talk) 19:51, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jayden Johnson 2314: I did see the wait template, and I did check the talk page. Even if the article was going to be edited, it was not in a condition to be kept. You are welcome to recreate it with appropriate content. -- Auntof6 (talk) 19:52, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I admit what I said before was an assumption. I didn't really mean what I said, it's just I was a little bit frustrated. So I am going to recreate the page with the right content, it just I didn't really fully see the quick deletion of the article :(
But thanks for your opinion! :) Jayden Johnson 2314 (talk) 19:56, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

About user Raayaan

[change source]

Hi @Auntof6 I know I am not allowed to talk about other editors but User: Raayaan9911 keeps putting QD templates as copyright infringement, as he did to Natural Disaster Survival, I highly doubt that it is copyright infringement but when I asked about the questionable QD template, he said "It came from Google" I mean Google is not a source of information, it is a search engine. :/

Should we just let it slide? I might need your opinion here. Thanks and have a happy holidays! :) - J.J. Jayden Johnson 2314 (talk) 16:52, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jayden Johnson 2314: When someone says they found something on Google, I think they mean that either 1) they found a source by searching on Google or 2) they found it in Google books. They just need to be more specific. I don't quick delete things as copyright violations unless I know where they came from.
I'm going through the QD requests right now, and I'll take care of the ones that are there now. When you see these, you are welcome to use the {{wait}} template process if you think it's appropriate. -- Auntof6 (talk) 16:57, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much! I will let Raayaan know about the QDs. Because some are not valid as "copyright infringement" unless it is copied from a source, then I could see why it's copyright. But that is not the case for this unfortunately... Jayden Johnson 2314 (talk) 17:00, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jayden Johnson 2314: I think I already left them a message.
By the way, please don't remove the QD tags yourself in these cases. Just use the {{wait}} process. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 17:02, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh okay, didn't know. I will remember not to do that next time, it's just I was doubting the QD as copyright infringement. Jayden Johnson 2314 (talk) 17:08, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jayden Johnson 2314: Just put the wait template on the page right after the qd template, then put something on the talk page explaining why you contest the request. -- Auntof6 (talk) 17:09, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thank you! :) Jayden Johnson 2314 (talk) 17:10, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jayden Johnson 2314: By the way, at least one of the articles in question was a copyright violation. I just had to do a search on a phrase from the article to find the source. However, it's better when the person making the request tells you where it came from. -- Auntof6 (talk) 17:38, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Noted. Thanks! Jayden Johnson 2314 (talk) 17:45, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects

[change source]

Hello. In these we have no other criterion than R3 similar to this situation; these redirects are unnecessary because no one uses such phrases (I haven't found anything similar on the Internet). I would rather bet that they are some kind of test or the author's own vision. Anyway, they are unnecessary and it is better to delete them. Best regards, BZPN (talk) 17:12, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@BZPN: It might be better to delete them, but the "uncommon typo" option doesn't apply. QD criteria are meant to be very specific, objective criteria, things that aren't open to much, if any, interpretation. "No one uses such phrases" is pretty subjective. I think you have to use RFD for these. -- Auntof6 (talk) 17:19, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will report them to RfD then. Thank you. BZPN (talk) 17:21, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question about AWB

[change source]

Hi, I read some bits of the previous discussions on your talk page and I was wondering if AWB could be set up to quickly replace " - " with "" per en:WP:NDASH, for example in long lists of events such as the day articles, which often use the hyphen instead of the ndash. I tried replacing them manually months ago, but I gave up. I'll give you more details tomorrow, because I want to make sure that it's possible to do so in theory before talking about practice (and because it's difficult to provide actual, precise examples on mobile). Thank you and happy holidays if you celebrate any! ✩ Dream Indigo ✩ 01:33, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dream Indigo: That should be possible. -- Auntof6 (talk) 03:25, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Brilliant! Thanks for answering! ✩ Dream Indigo ✩ 21:39, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Dream Indigo: You're welcome. By the way, we have a section on dashes in the MOS here. -- Auntof6 (talk) 23:44, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know! As of now, MOS:ENDASH is a red link, so I didn't know we had that section. I'm creating the shortcut now. Thanks again :) ✩ Dream Indigo ✩ 23:48, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!
