Dear Charlie fong, I was about to send the completed manuscript of my latest book The Ming Tombs to my publisher when I came across your stunning drone shots of several of the tombs. I am writing to ask if you would consider allowing me to include four of them in the book. There are no substantial books on the Ming Tombs in English in print. The best that one can find are rather shallow tourist guides. Hence my book is destined to become the definitive work on the subject in English. It is an academically rigorous treatment of the subject but was written for the general reader of enquiring mind. It takes you on a journey to one of the world’s greatest architectural and historic sites, beginning with an overview of the Ming dynasty and then taking an in-depth look at each of the thirteen tombs and their remarkable occupants. It runs to 76,000 words and contains 486 colour images taken by my collaborator, a most talented photographer. I am a graduate in History from Murdoch University in Perth and I hold a post-graduate degree in Asian Studies from the Australian National University in Canberra. During a career of almost thirty years in the Australian diplomatic service I had postings to France, Cambodia and UNESCO, and I established the Australian Embassies in China, North Korea and Nepal. I am the author of seven books and numerous articles on Asian history and culture. Including your work in my book would deliver a win-win outcome for both of us. It would enhance my book and would give you exposure through a publication which will definitely become the definitive reference work on the subject. I am reluctant to elaborate further right now as I do not know whether this messaging service is public or private. I would very much like to make direct contact with you via my private email. Please get in touch with me on asever@iinet.net.au. Thanks and regards, Adrian Sever
