Inactive/dead WikiProjects
[change source]I'm replying here because this isn't related to the RfD where you left the question.
What we've done in the past is two things. First, make sure the owner hasn't edited in a long time. Second, make a good faith effort to contact the owner (not only here but on other Wikimedia projects where they may have been active) to ask if they object. If there's no response after a good amount of time (I'd wait longer than the usual one week we have for discussions), then you can probably take over the project.
The reason we don't just take over a project (as was done in one recent case anyway) is that the project pages belong to the user whose space they're in. WikiProject pages can be seen as a little different from a user's other pages, though, because they're meant for multiple people to use. Just keep in mind that you don't have to take over the project to work on it, even if the owner isn't around. -- Auntof6 (talk) 18:55, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- I see, I will probably contact the owner of the astronomy one if he's still active somewhere, might I ask, how can I create my own wikiproject? I've been thinking of doing one for the medieval ages. RiggedMint 18:58, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- Well, Davidbuddy9 has been inactive for 7 years already here, and went inactive two years ago on Enwiki, with two small edits since then. 🪐 Haumeon the Adventurer 🪐 19:24, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- @RiggedMint: Just create a page for it in your userspace, You can look at other WikiProject pages for ideas on what to include. Then if you want to publicize it, you can announce it at Simple talk, invite specific users, or whatever else you can think of. -- Auntof6 (talk) 19:35, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- And since I can't find Davidbuddy9 anywhere, can I take the astronomy project into myuserspace? 🪐 Haumeon the Adventurer 🪐 19:37, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Haumeon: See above where I mentioned trying to contact the owner. I'd try both here and on other WikiMedia sites where the user was last active. Even if they haven't been active, they still own the page(s) and might appreciate the courtesy of a good faith effort to contact them. -- Auntof6 (talk) 19:45, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- I actually created my WikiProject (Pakistan) without realizing there was already an existing one, as it wasn't listed on the Wikipedia:WikiProjects list. When I found out....I simply redirected it to the new one I had created. The original project’s owner has been inactive for nearly 15 years and had only contributed to this one wiki. In such a situation, what would have been the appropriate course of action? – Cyber.Eyes.2005Talk 19:57, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- Perhaps emailing the creator? 🪐●Haumeon 20:01, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- Also a good idea, if they're emailable. -- Auntof6 (talk) 20:03, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Cyber.Eyes.2005: I would still have tried to contact the owner first, just in case. Some editors get notified when someone leaves them a message, and that notification might still be in place. -- Auntof6 (talk) 20:02, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Cyber.Eyes.2005: Also, it's best not to be too quick to change other users' pages. -- Auntof6 (talk) 20:04, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- Got it, I'll keep that in mind. I think I'll leave a message on their talk page to let them know, also I don't think they are emailable as well. – Cyber.Eyes.2005Talk 20:15, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- I checked all of Davidbuddy9's archives, and he only has one real comment from a person, a QD nom of some astronomy article. All the others are just Tech News. I can't even find his email. 🪐●Haumeon 20:20, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- And I don't have my email connected and for personal reasons I don't want to connect it. 🪐●Haumeon 20:24, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- If i don't get a message within a week on the enwiki talkpage, I will (supposedly) take over it. RiggedMint 23:04, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- @RiggedMint: As I said above, you might want to wait more than a week. This isn't like the organized discussions we have. If someone isn't as active as they used to be, they might not be checking for messages very often. Personally, I'd wait a month. There's nothing urgent here, after all. -- Auntof6 (talk) 23:50, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- But of course. RiggedMint 00:13, 5 September 2024 (UTC)

Editor experience invitation
[change source]Hi :) I'm looking for experienced editors to interview here. Feel free to pass if you're not interested. Cactus🌵 spiky ouch 10:13, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- Interesting. RiggedMint 12:55, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
Warnings
[change source]I noticed at Munising, Michigan's revision history you reverted the vandal, but didn't warn them. I take it you forgot to do it or was there a reason behind your decision not to warn?- FusionSub (Talk page) (Contributions) 14:19, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- I usually just do revert, report, and ignore, I learnt this method to combat LTAs and others. I would warn but I don't usually... RiggedMint 14:57, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, it was an LTA?- FusionSub (Talk page) (Contributions) 15:00, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- I don't think so, I think I just forgot to warn them on this one. RiggedMint 15:01, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
List of fokker aircraft
[change source]Can you explain why List of fokker aircraft has little or no meaning?
The top comments should be removed, but the article seems generally useful (unless it's incorrect; I haven't checked). Batrachoseps (talk) 18:25, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
- It does not make sense for an encyclopedia. It's also short and has barely any meaning other than the list. The List is honestly quite short, and should be put in Fokker. TL;DR: QD A1 + en:WP:NOTDB RiggedMint 21:38, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

AN topic
[change source]Well that's gotten totally out of hand from the IP! I think I'll be disengaging from there. Ravensfire (talk) 17:50, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'll report them to VIP then. They are clearly here to attack users... RiggedMint 17:51, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- The irony of the IP range that was ranting on AN is there have been a half-dozen article created in the past month by that range now up for RfD as promotional spam - [1]. Ravensfire (talk) 21:25, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
