Victoria River (Northern Territory)

Victoria River

The Victoria River is in longest river in the Northern Territory of Australia.[1] It flows into the Timor Sea. Philip Parker King explored the mouth of the river on 12 September 1819.[2] In 1839, the crew of HMS Beagle travelled more than 200 km up the river.[2] In 1854 the explorer Augustus Charles Gregory reached the river after crossing the north of Australia from Brisbane, Queensland.[2]
