GameSpot gave the game a 8.7 out of 10 and stated "The little things that debut in SmackDown, such as a never-ending season mode and inklings of a plot, really make the game feel fresh and new."[16]

  1. Two critics of Electronic Gaming Monthly gave the game each a score of 9/10, and two others gave it each a score of 8.5/10.
