Current requests for rollback

Hi, I’d like to request rollback rights to better combat vandalism. I primarily patrol history-related pages and have been actively reverting vandalism. I understand vandalism and always ensure my reverts are appropriate. I'm well aware of WP:3RR and use rollback responsibly. I'm also already autoconfirmed here. Additionally, I’m familiar with warning levels. Having rollback rights would allow me to revert vandalism more efficiently. Shakib ul hassan talk! 17:00, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Mihira Bhoja is an example of my anti-vandalism efforts, where I have dealt with caste-based POV pushers. Shakib ul hassan talk! 17:02, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am seeing limited experience in anti-vandalism patrol. What is your understanding of when rollback is appropriate for use? Griff (talk) 17:14, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response. I understand rollback is meant for obvious vandalism and not for good-faith changes. I always check the context before reverting to avoid mistakes. I’ve dealt with persistent vandalism, especially on Mihira Bhoja, where caste-based POV pushing was common. I will make sure to continue contributing to Wikipedia faithfully and responsibly.  Not done - Thanks for the response Shakib. I appreciate all the work you do across the project. At this time, I would like to see a little more experience in vandalism reversion (perhaps through Twinkle) and user warning before granting the right. I personally avoid using rollback when reverting POV pushing because it allows me to clearly identify why I am reverting, as sometimes the issues are not obvious. Once you feel like you have a bit more experience, feel free to reach out to me directly or here and I will be happy to review again. Griff (talk) 02:05, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Griff, for your quick response! I will work on gaining more experience in handling vandalism and hope you'll consider reviewing my request again in the future. Shakib ul hassan talk! 12:39, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I would like to request rollback rights to help in fighting vandalism more efficiently. I have experience in identifying and reverting vandalism and have been actively contributing to maintaining Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects.I already have rollback rights on English Wikipedia, Hindi Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Commons. I regularly use Twinkle, Huggle, RedWarn, and SWViewer to detect and revert vandalism quickly. I understand that rollback should only be used for clear cases of vandalism or disruptive edits, not for content disputes.Having rollback rights here will allow me to revert bad edits more efficiently and contribute to keeping Wikipedia clean. I will use rollback responsibly and in line with Wikipedia’s policies. Thank you for considering my request!→TypeInfo (talk) 18:18, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I looked through your contributions and found this. Do you mind explaining this revert? If you don't want to I wont mind.- FusionSub (Talk page) (Contributions) 18:33, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for checking. I made a mistake while looking at that edit, and when I tried to revert it again, I saw that someone else had already fixed it. I’ll be more careful in the future to avoid such errors. →TypeInfo (talk) 18:52, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thank you for replying :).- FusionSub (Talk page) (Contributions) 18:57, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Done Your response to the question was good and you already hold rollback on multiple large wikis so you can evidently be trusted with the tool.- FusionSub (Talk page) (Contributions) 11:37, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am so sorry for requesting again, but I would like to have rollback, I am very well understandable with the guidelines, and I have been helping out on the wiki and helping out in reverting vandalism, I have made some mistakes like forgetting to warn users who you revert or made a simple comment mistake, but I am learning very quickly to not do those mistakes again. I have gotten a lot more active on wiki than I was before, I have gotten used to the WP:ONE STRIKE rule and how to revert vandalism properly, also I use Twinkle and RedWarn/Ultraviolet to revert vandalism and warn users. Thank you for your consideration of my request. (Again) 𝓐𝓭𝓮𝓵𝓪𝓲𝓭𝓮 (𝓽𝓪𝓵𝓴𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓫𝓼) 14:34, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Adelaide! A few questions:
  • What are examples of when undo should be used instead of rollback?
  • Is rollback appropriate for use in an edit war? If so, in which situations?
  • In comparing rollback tools, when would you use the built-in rollback instead of Twinkle?
  • How should users be warned? Are there times where warnings are not appropriate?

Best, Griff (talk) 19:34, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Griff! Here is what I think that I should do when using rollback.

A: When a single bad edit has made by a user, but a bunch of good edits were made by the same user and they user has claimed to made a mistake, you can undo it instead of using rollback, because rollback reverts all the edits while undo only reverts a single edit.

B: (Answer to question 2) No it is not appropriate to use rollback in those situations, it is best to report it on the Administrators Noticeboard instead and let an admin handle it.

C: (Answer to question 3) I would use both but rollback lets you do more things than Twinkle does.

D: (Answer to question 4) Users should be warned when they vandalize, made a bad page, edit war, etc. But the 4im warnings are only giving out to a user if they make a legal threat to Wikipedia or attack other editors. When warnings are not appropriate is when the user makes a good edit, but when the user makes a mistake and that is totally okay to make a mistake, just roll it back as good faith, but it is a better to just fix it yourself. I hope this answers your questions thanks! 𝓐𝓭𝓮𝓵𝓪𝓲𝓭𝓮 (𝓽𝓪𝓵𝓴𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓫𝓼) 00:01, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Done - Remember, when in doubt, use twinkle/undo with a description. Thanks for all your hard work. Griff (talk) 13:52, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi guys, I am back for my second rollback request. I have around 4,000 edits already in Simple English Wikipedia and I’m editing Wikipedia for about 5 to 6 months. I would like to get rollback because I will try to revert vandalism or bad faith edits and I will try to be careful not to revert good faith edits by accident. Thanks guys. thetree284 (talk) 23:48, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done - Hi thetree, I do not see that you have a lot of experience in reverting vandalism or need for the rollback tool. Can you come back once you have been using twinkle or undo to revert vandalism for a while? Thanks, Griff (talk) 13:50, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
