The Optare Delta was a single-deck body of a bus, It had a step-entrance. It was made from 1990 to 1999 by Optare.

The Delta body was built on the DAF SB220 chassis.[1][2][3]

In 1999, the Delta was replaced with the Optare Excel.[4][5][page needed]

Optare Delta at the MetroCentre in Gateshead in May 2009]] From 1991 to 1993, Trentbarton ordered fifty-one Optare Deltas,[6] ten went to Trent Buses, for use on the operator's Rainbow Routes network.[7][8]

From 1990 to 1993, British Airways ordered forty-nine Deltas for airside passenger transfer services at Heathrow Airport. These had three doors, the doors were on the left at the front and middle of the bus, the other door was on the right side in the middle, Six of these buses were also used on a shuttle service between Terminal 1 and Terminal 4.[9]

From 1990 to 1992, London Regional Transport's London Buses business units ordered thirty-five Deltas.

In 1989, Go-Ahead Northern ordered fourteen Deltas,[10] In 1990 they ordered another five.[11]

From 1989 to 1990, Northumbria Motor Services ordered seventeen Deltas,[12][13] Elsewhere in the North East of England United Automobile Services,[14] OK Motor Services and Teesside Motor Traction[15] ordered Deltas.

In 1990, PMT of Stoke-on-Trent ordered nine,[16][17]

In 1990, Blackpool Transport ordered eight Deltas,[18] from 1991 to 1993 PMT ordered twenty more Deltas.[source?]

In 1991, Ipswich Buses ordered one Delta,[19] In 1994 they ordered four more.[20]

In 1991, Fylde Borough Transport, ordered three Deltas.[21]

From 1995 to 1996, Reading Buses ordered ten Deltas in 1989.[22]
