Response to message on Simple talk

An IP user asked if this article is complex. Here are some complex things I see in it:

• Complex words and phrases: premiered, at the box office, fell off the chart, grossed, recoup, box office bomb
• Complex sentence structure.
• Unclear terms: became poor

Here are some of the things that can be done to simplify this article:

• To make the sentence structure simple, divide each sentence so that each resulting sentence has one clause, with one subject and one verb. Every sentence in this article has at least two clauses.
• Several of the complex words and phrases I listed are movie jargon. For people whose English is not advanced, jargon can be difficult to understand, so it should be replaced with simpler language.

I haven't done any simplifying because the IP sounded like they might like to do it, but these are my thoughts. -- Auntof6 (talk) 00:58, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
