Looks like maybe the bot is down again. Hasn't made an edit since yesterday. -DJSasso (talk) 17:59, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Odd. The bot's working fine on IRC. Vermont (talk) 18:13, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Djsasso It seems to have been fixed. Vermont (talk) 21:47, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I need help to create a bot

[change source]

Hi, I thinking to create a bot. I need help to do so, can you help me with that, my bot I thinking to create is a bot that reverts vandalism. Please add details of your bot ChenzwBot so I have source code, details, and so, and then can I create my bot account, the name could be PSLBot. Please add other info of bots here so I understand details and so. Please, help me! -- Psl631 Leave me a message! my changes email me 17:30, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) There is already a bot that reverts vandalism and works quite well at it's job. Making another one is useless. I have access to the source code in the event that ChenzwBot shuts down, so I could run another iteration of it if needed, meaning that we also don't really need a backup anti-vandalism bot. Thanks, and I hope this helps. Vermont (talk) 18:09, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please add link to the bot's source code so I can see the code or create another bot in case the ChenzwBot shuts down. Another questions? -- Psl631 Leave me a message! my changes email me 18:13, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) I believe we don't make the source code to such things public, so that vandals can't figure out how to circumvent them. I'm not saying you're a vandal, it's just the usual practice. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) In any case, as Vermont said, we already have an anti-vandalism bot and provision for a backup one, so another wouldn't be needed. Besides that, although I am not a bureaucrat (they do bot approvals, among other things), I don't think you would get approval for a bot. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:52, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Simply copying ChenzwBot's source code is not "creating" a bot. If you are really interested in creating a bot, you should learn some programming first. This is not something that can be achieved overnight. Chenzw  Talk  02:55, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And as a Crat who does the vast majority of bot approvals. No, you would likely not be approved to run a bot. -DJSasso (talk) 01:26, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, even if I not are approved to run a bot, is it OK to see ChenzwBot's source code? -- Psl631 Leave me a message! my changes email me 04:22, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see any harm in making the source code available. Unlike its predecessor, the bot no longer relies on using hard-coded patterns to match against vandalism. No support provided for setting it up on your own environment. Chenzw  Talk  05:22, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
