treat vandals as vandals

[change source]

A suggestion about flags on user pages: if a user is clearly a vandal, then treat him like one. Start with a level 2 flag, rather than the "nice guy" welcoming level 1 flag. Level 1 is for good-faith mistakes of judgement. This helps your warnings to come into line with most other experienced editors. Macdonald-ross (talk) 09:17, 6 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) The level 1 warnings are not just for good faith edits. They are also for people who might not understand that they can't do whatever they want here. It might seem obvious to most of us that people shouldn't vandalize, but not everyone gets that right away. There are actually cases (not necessarily on Wikipedia) where hackers couldn't be prosecuted because there was nothing on the system they broke into saying who was allowed to use it or for what purpose. The level 1 warnings explain that without being threatening. As much as vandalism might annoy us, it doesn't hurt to give a vandal that extra level of warning. If they continue vandalizing, they'll get another warning soon enough. If they don't, we might get a useful editor -- after all, someone who vandalizes knows their way around the internet, and we have several useful editors here who were vandals in the past. Besides that, it's Wikipedia's practice to be as welcoming as possible. That's why so much work and thought was put into setting up the warning levels.
Now I'm not saying never to start with level 2. I start with that level myself in cases of profanity, serious attack language, and things that are truly offensive. But for garden variety vandalism such as removing content, adding wrong information, etc., then no. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:46, 6 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Auntof6: Well, what happens is that I'm used to play by the rules and templates that we have at es.wikipedia, but I do not know exactly how to proceed at simple; moreover another problem is that logically I don't understand English just as well that my native language, but I do what I can. If I'm doing wrong please let me know and I'll change. By the way, I like the idea of talk page stalker.--Syum90 20:49, 6 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your change to Agender

[change source]

After the author of this page blanked it, you undid that change. When the author of a page blanks that page, it's a way if telling the administrators that he or she would like the page deleted. Please don't revert blanking when it's done by a page's author. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 11:56, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Auntof6: I should have checked who the author was, but I forgot; next time I'll try to be more attentive to those details. Greetings.--Syum90 13:43, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
