Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CheckUser is the process of checking information about two or more users (including named users and IPs). Special users are able to check if two or more accounts have been used from the same computer. These users also see User agents. This can help them decide if two accounts are related in the way described above. It is also possible to see if a user is editing from an open proxy.

On this page, users can request some users or IPs to be checked. Good reasons should be given for why a checkuser is needed; you should provide links which show the questionable edits, etc. Questions should usually be created so that they can be answered by yes or no. Responses will be short in order to comply with Wikipedia privacy policy. Sensitive information (like the IP addresses used by an account) are usually not reported. The results are not always clear, and a decision should not be made only on the basis of checkuser results.

Use of the tool[change source]

This tool is to be used to fight vandalism, to check for sockpuppet abuse, and to limit disruption of the project. It must be used only to prevent damage to the project.

The tool should not be used for political control; to apply pressure on editors; or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to check a user. Note that alternative accounts are not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of the policies (for example, to vote more than once or to make it look like more people support an idea). Checkusers will refuse a request, if the reason for checking is not good enough to warrant the use of the tool.

Please see the CheckUser policy for all the rules related to CheckUser.

Alexander Jackson Maier-Dlamini[change source]

Alexander Jackson Maier-Dlamini and their redirects (Jackson Dlamini, Jackson Maier-Dlamini) have attracted many VPNs and new accounts in a short amount of time. The first user has made special:diff/9625388 and the 2nd account has made Special:Diff/9625898 in Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2024/Alexander Jackson Maier-Dlamini. Since this topic is a VPN farm, please check if there is any additional abuse of VPNs or other abuse of logout edits, etc. MathXplore (talk) 00:24, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Republic of Pelau accounts[change source]

This request is related to Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2024/Republic of Pelau. The 1st account is the author of the respective article, and the 2nd account uploaded a relelvant file to Wikimedia Commons (commons:Special:Log/Han_Tae-Sul). Please also note that both accounts are related to micronations and they have edits at mswiki as well as the estimated main account collection (Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Archive21#Muhammad_Luqman_accounts). MathXplore (talk) 08:12, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not seeing enough evidence at this stage. We are not permitted to go "fishing", but I will keep an eye on the edits. Peterdownunder (talk) 12:19, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the feedback. After your opinions, a different editor has agreed to my assessments (commons:Special:Diff/889982762), and now the 2nd account is also locked. MathXplore (talk) 05:00, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Niamh O'Hara accounts[change source]

The first account made an enwiki draft copy, and the 2nd account made Niamh B. O'Hara. Can they be related? MathXplore (talk) 00:58, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

askfilo.com accounts[change source]

I found 2 accounts adding same URLs with similar edit summaries (added new/missing information) and similar locations (South Asia), and such similarities can also be seen at enwiki. Should they be taken care by our CUs, or should we handle them one by one as unacceptable link additions? MathXplore (talk) 14:10, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I found a new account using same kind of edit summaries, Sumayah Sheik (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · SUL · CA · checkuser (log)) Can this be related? MathXplore (talk) 10:28, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Operator873: I have found Zoya Saleh (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · SUL · CA · checkuser (log)) with similar edit summaries (added new/more information), similar locations (South Asia, estimated via the references that they are using), same URL (askfilo.com, special:diff/9619840). Namaste Henry accounts[change source]

I found accounts overlapping at a same company article (same name, same industry, same year of establishment, same CEO). Please note that the 2nd user is already blocked/locked, and this can be block/lock evasion. Once confirmed, I will report this to the stewards and delete the page per QD G5. Ryohei Mori accounts[change source]

I recognize several accounts around a BLP with same expertise (scientist) and nationality which may be block evasion. Please note that all accounts seem to be single-purpose accounts. Please check their relations. Once confirmed, I will delete the latest creation Ryōhei Mori as QD G5 and check their global changes. MathXplore (talk) 00:52, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that user:Kairofar is now locked. MathXplore (talk) 10:08, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Fr33kman: Please also note that the following accounts are checked with user:Kairofar via enwiki SPI (w:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Allendrew):

I have already blocked other relevant accounts that made edits after user:Kairofar as block evasion. However, the accounts that I initially discovered were blocked in June, but the newly found accounts in the enwiki SPI made their last edit before June. What should we do with them? Are there any other related accounts? MathXplore (talk) 10:18, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Vanderpumpstan (June 2024)[change source]

Cedricmartinez is a new account that's created several articles that are massively oversourced, all about people that are connected to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Many of the sources used are from Bravo TV, which is common for Vanderpumpstan articles, as is the extreme details and sources. Compare the article style to other articles in the last version from a previous Vanderpumpstan sock - [1], [2], [3]. New editors don't create massive articles like that, with the massive number of sources, for people that generally have marginal roles in the various shows. The user name, Cedricmartinez, is also the name of someone connected to The Real Housewives of BH, which Vanderpumpstan has done before (see 0ddotnek, which is Ken Todd backwards, husband to Lisa Vanderpump). From prior checks, CU may be a bit marginal but I feel the behavior is more than enough to block as a sock. I've added four of the most recent socks to the CU list for comparison. Loki[change source]

These two accounts have been creating negative pages of Loki. I suspect them to be the same.--Cactus🌵 spiky ouch 10:53, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Since my previous request is archived at Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Archive22#Jishnu_Raghavan_accounts, I'm revisiting this incident as a new section. The first account is the latest variant, the others are recently locked relevant accounts. As same as the previous accounts, the latest account's first move is Jishnu Raghavan (special:diff/9591449). malala.org accounts[change source]

Joshua Obedeke (JO) has a global record of spams related to malala.org, etc., at here and other English sister projects. Due to such activities, JO is already blocked at enwiki. Now I found that Olori Ayilala Paparazi (OAP) made an user page about malala.org but the page starts with Joshua Akporobaro Obedeke (JO's full name). d:Special:Contributions/Dewberry23, fr:Special:Contributions/Dewberry23, and local contributions suggest that their recent objective is to increase the recognition of User:Ivan P. Clarin. Miss Universe Myanmar accounts[change source]

Please note that the 2nd account is already blocked by me per WP:ONESTRIKE, and the 3rd account is already CU-blocked by User:Bsadowski1.

I would like to alert that a brand new account has substantial activity overlaps and share similar interests with previously blocked/locked accounts in a short term. Dhadhor accounts[change source]

As concerned in Special:Diff/9575212, we have too many accounts involved in over-reverting at this article, and some accounts have very low edit counts. Can the appearance of so many new accounts concentrate in one article in a short term less than 3 months? SeatedSnow (SS) is the latest account among this request, and their edit summary of special:diff/9580657 is a copy of our admins (special:diff/9570001). This coincidence suggests that SS already knows the status of the article in this project. Please investigate the relations between these accounts. MathXplore (talk) 04:04, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
