Diego Grez
[change source]- Diego Grez (talk · contribs)
Final: (2/8). Withdrawn by candidate. Griffinofwales (talk) 22:34, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
End date: April 27, 2010 Hi. I want to ask you to give me the import flag. I want to import and simplify/translate articles about Chile, they are a lot and this tool may be very useful. I won't misuse it and/or let you down... --Diego Grez (previously MisterWiki) let's talk 22:21, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Candidate's acceptance:
Support
[change source]I think it would help this wiki. PiRSquared17 (talk) 22:55, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- He has experience with things and wouldn't screw up too badly. Ottava Rima (talk) 00:36, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Support I don't see any good reason not to; and besides, Diego Grez is trustworthy. -♥ Belinda ♥ 04:59, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Why not? Distributing the workload is good. SS✞(Kay) 22:21, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose
[change source]- Not needed. Admins can handle it. Griffinofwales (talk) 22:23, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, maybe, but I don't wanna disturb the admins with 500+ articles. --Diego Grez (previously MisterWiki) let's talk 22:25, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- You'll be importing 500+ articles at once? It takes a while to simplify articles, shouldn't overwhelm us. Griffinofwales (talk) 22:32, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- It's clear based on this post that he does not fully understand what importing is used for. Either way (talk) 02:21, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Hmm. Not really. I didn't knew that it was not possible to import from other Wikipedia than English. I weren't going to upload userboxes or something else with import. I said "going to import by 1-5 articles to my userspace". I know how to use the tool and is not equal or similar to rollback, because the latter is to revert vandalism, import is for articles. This is a response for the bottom opposes too. --/me muy idiota let's talk 22:16, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose Oh god no. Don't remotely trust this user with this tool. He couldn't even use the rollback tool properly and had to have it removed. And that is a far less dangerous tool than import. -DJSasso (talk) 02:34, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Weak oppose Sorry, but I don't think you really need the importer tool at present. Are you sure you'll be able to simplify all the articles you're planning to import? (And it seems that you want to import a lot of them.) I believe you'll try, but it takes a much longer time and effort than might be imagined to properly simplify and clean up imported articles, so as Griffinofwales pointed out, I don't think it would be too much for the administrators to handle. I think having lots of complex articles around to simplify would be much more work for them than simply importing them. —Classical Esthertalk 03:24, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry, you have a tendency to do things incorrectly, which is fine when you're editing pages (per bold), but a tool like Import needs to be used carefully and can result in a lot of problems. I don't want to be going through a Request for Deimporter in a few days, or need to block and nuke. For the protection of the wiki, I have to say not now. EhJJTALK 04:44, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Eh, er, sorry, Diego, but I changed my mind. I'm afraid you might not simplify them, like Pichilemu, which is in a terrible complex situation right now after being imported. I'll put my !vote back to support if I see an example or show of good work you do. ♥ Belinda ♥ 06:23, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't know where to begin. Per above. Let's leave it at that. — laurynashby 06:29, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[change source]- Why do you want importership? PiRSquared17 (talk) 22:42, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Can't he just ask an admin on IRC? PiRSquared17 (talk) 22:49, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- (change conflict) (twice) @Griffin et Pirs: I want importership to:
- 1. Import articles about Chile (mainly the red links on List of cities in Chile)
- 2. The same for Pichilemu
- 3. Whenever I need to import some page (example: TOTW)...
- I know it will take some time, I won't upload them at once, but I don't want to bother anyone with my imports, and I'll be working on my userspace. Thanks in advance. --Diego Grez let's talk 22:50, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
