World Painted Blood is the eleventh studio album by American thrash metal band, Slayer. World Painted Blood was released on November 3, 2009 through American Recordings and Sony Music Entertainment.[2] It is Slayer's last album to feature drummer Dave Lombardo who was fired and guitarist Jeff Hanneman who died of liver failure, both in 2013.[3][4]
The album peaked at #12 on the Billboard 200,[5] #18 on the Digital Albums,[6] #2 on the Top Hard Rock Albums,[7] #4 on the Top Rock Albums,[8] and at #1 on the Top Tastemaker Albums charts.[9] In 2010, the song "Hate Worldwide" was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Metal Performance.[10] The next year, the song "World Painted Blood" was nominated for a Grammy Award in the same category.[11]
