Thanks for your new categories
[change source]Thanks for creating the new categories, Category:Christian singers and Category:Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductees. When you create categories, please do not include the category itself in the page. Instead, include one or more existing categories. I have changed the categories that these categories are in, so you can take a look to see what I mean.
Also, when putting a person in a category that indicates their religion, you must have a reference that indicates what their religion is. I don't see that in any of the singers currently in that category. Did you mean the category to be for people who sing Christian music? If so, please change it to something like "Christian music singers". Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 21:57, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for telling me. I've been at en.Wiki for some time, but I had not started a new category before. To answer your question, I meant it either way. Since there wasn't a category for either: Singers who are Christians or Christian music singers, I just went with "Christian singers". Now my my question to you is: How do I change it -- since there isn't a "move" at the top?
- And just to let you know, while most of those who are in the Gospel Music Hall of Fame are singers, the ones who are currently in the category are not; two are songwriters, and Billy Graham is in it because he had Gospel music on his TV programs. --Musdan77 (talk) 23:54, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
- You're welcome. To make that change, you create the new category, change to the new category in each article, then ask for the old category to be deleted. I've done a lot of that kind of thing, so I'd be glad to do it for you if you want -- just let me know. Also, I changed Category:Singers to Category:Halls of fame in Category:Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductees. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:10, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- If you would do that, I would appreciate it -- as long as you don't mind. Thanks. --Musdan77 (talk) 00:19, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- Nope, I don't mind at all. It's done. I created Category:Christian music singers and put it in the "Singers" and "Christian music" categories. --Auntof6 (talk) 01:03, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
Big Airport Weekend - January 20-23
[change source]We want to invite you to participate in the Big Airport Weekend on Jan 20-23. (See: WP:Big Weekend) The purpose of this weekend is to improve SEWP's coverage of airports and airport related articles. A few tasks and guidelines:
- Add {{Infobox airport}} to all airport articles
- To improve existing articles and stubs in the Category:Airports including subcategories.
- To add new articles on airports. (Any airport with regular commercial service or where a historic event happened is notable enough for an article.)
- Airports can be civilian, military, and anywhere in the world.
- Add BAW (for Big Airport Weekend) to the edit summaries to help keep track of the changes.
- Please use the {{inuse}} template to avoid edit conflicts with other BAW participants.
Barnstars will be liberally rewarded for your airport efforts. Let me know if you have any questions. Please join us to have fun and to improve SEWP. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 19:24, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
Question
[change source]I was just wondering why you reverted http://simple.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=3506906&oldid=3505174 it actually fixes a rather annoying misplacement of commas. Werieth (talk) 16:34, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- Werieth, I don't see any change to commas, just unnecessary changes to breaks and spacing. But, if it has to do with punctuation then it should say that in the edit summary, not "typo". --Musdan77 (talk) 21:15, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- Why should I need to clarify that? A typo is a typographical error, which may refer to an error in spelling, grammar or punctuation. The error that I fixed was ..... The Gothic Image , Religious Art in France...... which should have been ..... The Gothic Image, Religious Art in France...... Werieth (talk) 21:27, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- Now that you pointed it out, I can see the difference -- and that's why it should be explained better. We can't can see that unless we know what to look for. (By the way, when I said "spacing," I was talking about line spacing, not space between characters.) Thanks. --Musdan77 (talk) 21:49, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Marriage equality
[change source]Hi Musdan77, I have noticed a number of reverts over the issue of same-sex marriage. I hope you are reverting these using undo, not rollback, as these are good faith edits. Is the problem with the article where the other editor is trying to use marriage equality as a synonym for same-sex marriage? I would think that it is not a synonym, but a separate issue; are same-sex marriages to be treated equally with the traditional concept of marriage. I am right? Can we come up with wording in the article that could resolve the problem? --Peterdownunder (talk) 23:34, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
Stalking
[change source]All of your most recent edits were on pages i had recently edited. This may be seen as a form of stalking. In one of your edits you re-nserted an incorrect sentence which i removed about Satanism. Please keep this in mind in the future. PassaMethod (talk) 00:33, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- PassaMethod, Stalking? I think you mean "hounding". I know you're new, but be careful about making such accusations. I was not hounding either. All of my most recent edits were ones on my watchlist that needed editing done (and you were the one making the changes). I monitor my watchlist to make sure those articles are up to the standards of the site. As for the edit that you mentioned, I didn't "re-insert" anything. I reverted your change for the reason I gave -- which you ignored. This is called "Simple Wikipedia" for a reason. That's one of the main things to keep in mind when making changes here. Also, in the Same-sex marriage article you re-added a ref. link that goes to an Error 404 page. And why did you change "American" back to lower-case? I will wait awhile before making changes on those pages. If you need help, just ask. --Musdan77 02:43, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
I'm posting this message to both you and Pass a Method. Stop attacking each other, and stop edit-warring on all of these articles. Follow the editing policy and use a bold, revert, discuss cycle. Comment only on the merit of the content and sources. Using primary sources is okay, but be careful with it and try to have some secondary sources to back them up with -- "Any interpretation of primary source material requires a reliable secondary source for that interpretation". If you cannot agree over a particular article, you can ask for a third opinion at WP:ST. If I see any more edit warring or personal attacks, that editor will be blocked. I'm sure you are more than capable of collaborating with a contrary opinion amicably. Osiris (talk) 04:48, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
- Osiris, Well when I first came to this wiki, I saw how some of the articles having to do with the Bible had Bible verse refs, so I started to copy that style -- and very few had any other sources than that (but you'll notice that this user only removed content which I added, not ones anyone else did -- that's all I'll sat on that). But, I'll add a secondary ref. and hopefully there won't be any more problems. --Musdan77 (talk) 19:08, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
- If you're just describing what the Bible says, citing a particular verse is perfectly fine. For anything that could reasonably be considered an interpretation of what is meant in the Bible, then a secondary source using that interpretation is best (in order to avoid original research). If you think Pass a Method has removed any material that is purely descriptive, send me the diffs and I will have a look at them. Osiris (talk) 22:07, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Talkback
[change source]Message added 15:32, 20 March 2013 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
OK, I see what you're doing now—mea culpa. The article was and still is just a little confusing in that regard. In the section In the Bible this can be taken as speaking of the Church (or the Christian Church) more than a local church. It's just a second opinion but that was part of why I thought this was about the Christian Church. Your last edit clarified that in the lead, however. Also, I didn't tag it because I intended to come back and work on it some more, but it needs simplifying. It needs to be broken down into simpler sentences. If you'd like to do that I'll leave it to you. But if you'd like some help, let me know. Thanks Rus793 (talk) 20:36, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
- Sure, you could work on that. I just wanted to make sure you understood the article. I can see simplifying "represents". I'm not sure what else. I could move the second sentence under "In the Bible" to Christian Church -- though I'm not exactly sure where it should be there. --Musdan77 (talk) 21:34, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
