Thanks for adding great images to articles from the Commons! I personally value these kinds of additions to the Simple English Wikipedia! Please continue to do so in the future! Razorflame (contributions) Talk 22:38, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My pleasure, I love to help out. I'm actually getting them all from a little project over on en.wp; a bot gathered up a bunch of biographical articles and looked to see if they had any images available on Commons, then automatically formatted the links so people can add them to various projects. I've probably done a couple of hundred edits so far on it (I'm surprised at how many times I've been on the Japanese site); my collection of accounts is coming in quite handy for this. :) Check out en:User:BOTijo/Images for biographies for more info. Have fun

[change source]

Have fun going through the pages that I create that don't have a link to the English Wikipedia as you might have some problems doing that (because I create a lot of pages). Cheers, Razorflame 19:47, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is... is that a challenge? Did you just challenge my interwiki abilities? :D I'm gonna have sooooo much fun now... EVula // talk // 19:49, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, not a challenge, just a note that I do create a lot of pages. Cheers, Razorflame 19:51, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Aww... well, I'm still going to have fun. ;)
Unfortunately, my time to work on them right now is limited, but I'm sure I can follow behind you rather quickly. Also keep in mind that I'm not just updating our interwikis here; I'm updating them for all of the articles, and making sure they link back here as well.[1][2][3][4] EVula // talk // 19:53, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I also do stuff like that sometimes when I create articles. I update the interwikis on pl, ja, and nn when I create them. Not all of the time, though. I'm doing this to up my edit count on those Wikipedias. Cheers, Razorflame 20:00, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A note, though, if you notice that I am creating articles after about 5 or 6PM CST, you don't need to update the interwiki links as I usually run my bot, Darkicebot, every 20-30 pages or so to have him update them for me Cheers, Razorflame 20:05, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So noted... but all the asteroid pages you made today have already been interwiki'd. That was fun. :) EVula // talk // 00:13, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(unindenting) Sorry, but from now on, I will be including the English interwiki link in any page that I create here, so therefore, it won't need to be done here. Sorry, Razorflame 18:34, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. :) EVula // talk // 18:47, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can we talk via IRC? Same nick. Synergy 20:09, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to jump on at some point, but no clue when that might be; tonight's fairly busy. Same nick for me as well, which is also what I use for AIM (though email works too). EVula // talk // 23:10, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted to chat for a few about cross wiki editing. I noticed a reply to Razor a couple threads above, and got interested. Synergy 23:51, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Jumping on IRC now, but I'm not going to be online for very long. Waiting for someone to show up so we can go move furniture for a friend. EVula // talk // 23:53, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for participating in my recent request for adminship, which passed with a total of 21/5. I will try to the best of my abilities to maintain the trust of the community, and I will carefully consider the opposes to learn how to further improve. Interwiki

[change source]

Hey EVula, nice to see you around. Just a quick word to say while you're doing a great job of adding interwiki links to newer pages, there are bots that do that (somewhat onerous) job. I'm sure you know this already and will award me with a nice fat trout, remind me to mind my own business and get on with making some decent articles, but just in case... The Rambling Man (talk) 21:13, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I realize there are bots, but... damn, I just have fun doing them. :) (yes, I realize that's strange)
Plus, it's a nice way for me to get back into my old wiki-groove; I was inactive for about a month and a half, and so I'm slowly but surely trying to get up to my old activity levels. Interwikis are the easiest way for me to do that, and I (very incidentally) got back into it on Bill Dodgin, Sr., as it was at the very top of RC at the time. EVula // talk // 21:41, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome. Well, welcome back here. Take it easy. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:43, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is definitely something that more than one person has pointed out across various wikis, so I'd like to say something else about it (I hope I don't make it sound like I'm singling you out, TRM), but relying solely on bots isn't always the best idea. I just ran thru several of the new pages, and while bots had updated the interwikis in some languages,[5] they missed others.[6] Not only that, but a manual check can sometimes catch bad interwikis that the bots have applied, but the articles were deleted.[7] Obviously, this is hardly the end of the world, but still, if we're going to have them, they might as well all be correct.

So, yeah, while I'm still a tad bit crazy to enjoy working on interwikis as much as I do, at least it's not all for naught. :) EVula // talk // 04:26, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good work! I like it a lot more :). Thanks, Goblin 18:43, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

...why aren't you an admin here? You're an admin everywhere I've seen you except for here. --Dylan620 Review me 18:30, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, you're the second person today to mention a SE Wikipedia sysop flag to me. It's a good day. :)
I honestly don't feel like I'm consistently active enough here to warrant running. There are already enough people that grumble that I wear too many hats as it is, so I'd rather not give them more to bitch about until I have a significant number of positive contributions to show in response. Plus, I recently came somewhat close to flaming out entirely, so I'm just now getting back into editing on all my usual projects; I'd like to resume active editing on them all (such as the SE Wikiquote) before attempting to expand the number of wikis I work on any further. reverts

[change source]

I notice that you are able to revert edits. Is this an admin only tool? Griffinofwales (talk) 23:27, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone can simply revert edits; you just edit the version before what you're reverting and hit save. However, I'm not an administrator here; you probably mean rollback. EVula // talk // 03:04, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm already a rollbacker, and I'm not even autoconfirmed (shows you how desperate this project is). Thanks for your help. Griffinofwales (talk) 03:23, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So... what was the point of asking me if you already know about rollback? :)
Also, why do you take the opportunity to insult the project every chance you get? The "desparate" comment certainly comes across as a dig (especially in the context of your original userpage). EVula // talk // 03:31, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I just got started at simple, and I'm used to en.wikipedia, so Simple looks like an ugly brother next to en.wikipedia. I'm trying to improve my attitude towards the project. About rollback, since in en.wikipedia, Twinkle is live and anybody can use it, nobody ever uses the rollback tool (because Twinkle is better than rollback). The only reason I requested rollback at en. was so I could use Huggle (the best vandal fighter ever!). Since this is a different project, the policies/guidelines are different so I wasn't sure about the tools. I hope you understand. Thanks. Griffinofwales (talk) 03:42, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To avoid bothering Juliancolton, I am posting here. You said that I do not have to open a new thread, however Juliancolton said that his talk page was not the place to discuss AIV. What was I supposed to do? Griffinofwales (talk) 18:03, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[change source]

Hello, and thanks for the welcome message! I noticed you have a robot (or manually assisted robot) for adding interwiki links. I noticed it works in many languages (at least in: bg, ca, cs, fi, fr, mk, ru, zh — but I guess there are many more). My question is: In case you have time, can I make a list of pages (from WP:EN) that need updates in interwiki, on other languages? For example I added the interlanguage links at en:Template:Malaysia-stub, but I did not updated the interlanguage links at the other languages: ar, ja, fi, zh. Regards, Ark25 (talk) 16:28, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I don't have a robot of any sort; all my interwiki stuff is done by hand. (and as a result, I work in all the languages, regardless of project).
However, if you do up any list of interwiki work that needs to be done, I'll be more than happy to take care of them. For some very, very, very strange reason, I enjoy working on them. :) EVula // talk // // 17:05, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Funny, the strange reason affects me to. I like to have at least 10 edits on all languages. Maybe that's called curiosity, apetite to learn? Who knows. Thanks, when I'll need help, I'll ask for it. Happy editing ! Ark25 (talk) 20:50, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[change source]

Hi EVula. You created on simple the oversight account (User:Oversight). Can you please send me or Majorly the password, that we can take over this account? Thanks Barras || talk 14:39, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was actually planning on just updating the email address for the account once there was a mailing list address for reports to be sent to. If you'd rather it be in an actual OS's hands, though, no problem. (after I change the password so that it doesn't match my own, of course :P) EVula // talk // // 16:30, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We don't have a mailing list atm... Barras || talk 16:42, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that's one of several things that needs to happen, in addition to Wikipedia:Oversight becoming more than just a soft redirect.
In the meantime, I've fired off an email to the English oversight list asking what needs to happen so we can have a SE mailing list. EVula // talk // // 16:57, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Excuse my jumping in, but a list may well be overkill with two/three Oversighters. They can easily be contacted via Special:EmailUser, and also communicate with each other. In order to get a mailing list, you'll need to show that there is consensus for a such a list within the community and then go and file a bug. Hope this helps. Goblin 16:59, 15 August 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Kennedy![reply]
Thanks, I agree. A mailing list is not really needed. Barras || talk 17:00, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Eh, I disagree, but that's primarily because I'm so used to getting oversight requests from the enwiki mailing list. If they go to a central location, you can better keep track of what is (and isn't) getting taken care of. I don't think on-wiki consensus is needed just to set up a mailing list, but I'm not sure of that, so *shrug* EVula // talk // // 17:03, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
From the mailing list: "Hi EVula - I think what needs to happen is that Cary arranges for it to be created...so that would be after Wikimedia, as our beloved Volunteer Coordinator is off gallivanting on holidays right now. It's a good idea, glad to know that other wikis are getting into this business." EVula // talk // // 17:08, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Still not 100% convinced that's right - Mailman is looked after by the devs as opposed to anyone else, so it would need to go through BZ and they are generally quite strict about handing MLs out. Still, if you can get one, great :D. Goblin 17:11, 15 August 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Fr33kman![reply]

Are you still active here? I cant edit my enwiki talkpage..PirateSmackKArrrr! 14:33, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just checked your block settings and yes, it appears that you can't edit your enwiki talk page. Considering the fact that you're banned there, that's not terribly surprising. You've only been banned for six months there, so I think it's a bit premature to open your talk page back up; pester me about this again closer to June. EVula // talk // // 17:43, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and you are a film actor? o_O I always thought you were a lady until recently when I saw your picture on twitter.:O Geek! :D --PirateSmackKArrrr! 16:06, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In another six months, you'll have been gone a year; that's a good amount of time for you to request your ban be reexamined (which I would assume is why you want to be able to post to your talk page again).
As for the acting, nope, it's all just local theatre. And yes, I'm very much a guy, as the beard in that picture shows. :) EVula // talk // // 18:44, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'd recommend reading Wikipedia:Criteria for administratorship; that's the simplest explanation for how to become an administrator.
As for how I became an admin, it helped that I was already an admin on a few other wikis. EVula // talk // // 16:31, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Second RfA

[change source]
(originally posted under #reconfirmation above, but I'm spinning it off into a separate thread)

Yours failed too even after I gave you a positive vote & you'll notice my pie-chart http://toolserver.org/~Tparis/pcount/index.php?name=ONaNcle&lang=simple&wiki=wikipedia is quite similar to yours (with more than 200 deleted changes for me) and your failure makes me easy not to submit a third RfA. ONaNcle (talk) 06:37, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I personally wish it had gone differently (which is a pretty obvious statement...) since I do believe in the whole "net gain" thing, but at the same time... eh. Part of it is that I know how many times I've seen stuff tagged for speedy deletion when I pop thru and scan RC, but there's no way for that to reflect in my contribs. A damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don't sort of situation. One could look at my edit count for Wikiquote and see that I'm relatively "inactive" there (barely 130 edits over a three months span), but then look at my logs and you see a few hundred administrative items (which is what I was thinking would happen here).
Eh, oh well. It's not like I don't have plenty of other things to occupy my time; now I at least don't have to feel bad if I prioritize another project over this one. :) EVula // talk // 09:47, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've been close to inactive for the last couple of years (though apparently just active enough to keep my bit) but I know you would have done a good job and was disappointed that I didn't get to vote in favor of you in time. Kansan (talk) 09:53, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I thought about leaving it open for a bit longer, but didn't see it turning around anytime soon, and while I can shrug off most comments (though don't get me started with how stupid I think the "hat collecting" argument is), it's still a bit disheartening. Not exactly what I wanted to have up in the air going into the new year. :) EVula // talk // 01:58, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm the one who has transferred many Simple entries from the English language into my own French language ; this job is now done ; but a place you could feel more useful than here, because my English is poor, is where I was transferring entries now looking different ; being a bureaucrat on this outside Foundation wiki, I trust you enough to give you (no votes there) admin rights as soon as you say you need them. ONaNcle (talk) 10:49, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Beats me how you think that 100 edits since mid-2010 somehow qualifies you for taking the admin tools just because you're active in other places, or you've noticed QD tags in RC. Probably not your intention but it comes across arrogant. Try being a bit more active, eh? Kennedy (talk) 12:03, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely not my intention to come across as arrogant. I usually don't let my ego run amuck like that, WP:EVULA aside. ;) EVula // talk // 15:39, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
*Like* :P Kennedy (talk) 15:46, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I do apologize if our talking comes across arrogant only because I felt your hat story was off-topic. Imho People with 100 or 1000 or even 100 000 edits could be good contributors but proving themselves bad bureaucrats. To judge EVula abilities I use only one criteria ONaNcle (talk) 12:22, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, whats up with all the bolding and italics in all of your posts? It makes things difficult to read when you seem to randomly italic words for some obscure reason. Secondly, my hat collecting comment is clearly not off-topic as it is in reference to his request to be an administrator. And thirdly your criteria is hardly supportive of the candidate. Anyone can share logs, take mine for example. My logs run onto 2 pages with a list of 500, whereas the candidates barely runs onto two pages set to a list of 300, and it still hardly shows a great deal of activity. Not trying to compare, just saying your logs mean little... Kennedy (talk) 12:45, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(ec)What criteria might that be? In the year before EVula lost their flag they made less than 35 log entries (since you are pointing to their log I assume that is the criteria). That is just under 3 a month...not all that active. EVula is a great editor but an admin has to be active here, they aren't. If they become active they will be an admin again I am sure. -DJSasso (talk) 12:48, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
