[change source](Please let me know if there's a better way to request RD1s here.) Boreas and Zephyrus both need cv redaction. Special:Diff/9956329 onward is from [1], Special:Diff/9893548 onward from [2] and [3]. The account is blocked as a sock on en-wiki: [4]. -- Asilvering (talk) 04:46, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- While I'm at it, there are a number of articles by W;ChangingUsername that are copied from the NHS website. The text has been removed already, but it should also be RD1'd. Since most of their articles were created before they were warned about this, I expect the issue affects all of them. I got here via Copypatrol dinging Chlorphenamine. -- asilvering (talk) 05:13, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, I started making a list of the articles by this editor that need revdel, but actually, they're all QD candidates, looks like. So you can save your erasers (and use dynamite instead). I know none of them look like much right now, but if you don't QD them, you'd have to a) rewrite the stub and b) revdel most of the history anyway. But there's still a bit of eraser-work to do:
- Loratadine, everything from 14 June
- Period pain (Dysmenorrhoea), everything up to the redirect
- Sinusitis, from 7 June up to the most recent edit
- Metoprolol, everything up to the most recent edit
- Warfarin, everything from 2 June up to Auntof6's removal of the content
- Sorry in advance about your erasers. -- asilvering (talk) 06:26, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Some more:
- Allergy, everything from their first edit on 2 June up to my edit
- Diazepam, everything from their 1 July edit to Davey2010's first edit
- Abdominal pain, everything from their first 1 June edit up to my edit
- Hyperthyroidism, everything from their 12:22 edit on May 29 (ie, including the edit "Symptoms final" but not the two previous ones) up to my edit - this is from a variety of sources, incl [5], [6], possibly some non-NHS stuff (copypatrol dings [7])

What action would be appropriate in this case?
[change source]So I was going through Category:Pages using the JsonConfig extension and found some user scripts that ended up in there. Christian Joy Bautista vandal is back
[change source]The Christian Joy Bautista vandal is back, creating Christian Joy bautista (see [11] for a small taste of this if you don't remember) and adding her name to Santol, La Union and other articles. Accounts thus far are MIRUS Apasen Lalong (talk · contribs) and Template:IPUser but their previous pattern was creating lots of accounts after getting blocked and a variety of IP's. Would an admin delete any created articles and keep an eye on this to block as new accounts / articles appear? Thank you. Ravensfire (talk) 02:31, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Other articles they've created are James William Camba Escanilla and Cj Lorenzo Bautista thus far. Ravensfire (talk) 02:44, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- I appreciate the history lesson (since my memory is not good enough to remember all of our friendly LTAs). I will keep an eye on things but please report any accounts you spot. Best, Griff (talk) 03:18, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, always appreciated! Ravensfire (talk) 03:42, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- New accounts created and pushing garbage. The article James William Camba Escanilla was created with grand sounding claims to notability - being the Governor of the La Unioin province of the Phillipines. Except he's not. The w:Governor_of_La_Union is actually Raphaelle Ortega-David. Before I started cropping the article, one of the sources was about her, not James. The other source is pure junk. From the article log, you'll see it's been created multiple times by Baustista socks. The two new ones, Mayrose Apasen Lalong and Issichar Rosete Dela Rosa need to be blocked and globally locked, as the previous Bautista socks have been as they will hit en wiki. Thank you. Ravensfire (talk) 03:55, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

Gulf of America page protection
[change source]Would someone mind putting semi-protection on Gulf of America please? There's still a large RFC on how to deal with this on en wiki that's on-going, and that's probably going to be the best option for us to follow here. Ravensfire (talk) 16:52, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
Done - Semi-protected for a month until either enWP or our project figure out what to do. I encourage anyone else reading this thread to please comment on Talk:Gulf of Mexico. Griff (talk) 17:04, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
Update to filter 47 and to set it to disallow
[change source]I went ahead and updated filter 47, and should we set it to disallow with the default disallow message? I looked at the log, and they were clearly bad changes that should not be allowed. The code is below:
page_namespace == 0 &
!("autoconfirmed" in user_rights) &
(
rx1 := "([^_:.*'|=}{0 -]{1,9})\1{7}";
rx2 := "[bcdfghjklmnpqrstvwxz]{9,}";
(
rmwhitespace(added_lines) rlike rx1 &
!(rmwhitespace(removed_lines) rlike rx1)
) | (
added_lines rlike rx2 &
!(removed_lines rlike rx2)
)
) &
!(added_lines rlike ("https:\/\/\S*(?:" + rx1 + "|" + rx2 + ")|(^|\n)[|!]")) &
!(added_lines irlike "number|spell|math|string|<br\b") &
!(page_title irlike "number")
Thank you. Codename Noreste (talk) 17:04, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- I personally would favour running the new code on the filter without disallow, verify no unintended consequences, and then update the filter to "disallow" after a week. Griff (talk) 19:03, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Since no one else commented, I have updated the filter. Can you bother me in a few days to see if we had any false positives? Thanks, Griff (talk) 22:30, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
Vandalism report (2025 January 29)
[change source]Looking at Special:Contribs/2600:8805:D600:51C0::/64, it appears that nearly all of their edits are minor vandalism. However, because the IP's keep changing, it's difficult to see if they've been given enough warnings. I request an admin to review these edits and revert any if needed, then either warn or block as appropriate 166.107.163.31 (talk) 21:56, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protection for Adolf Hitler
[change source]Persistent Vandalism. Aqurs1 (talk) 18:50, 31 January 2025 (UTC)

two (or more) promotional/spam articles, in one day
[change source]Creating two promotional/spam articles.
See simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Kayaliesmith
. I have asked for qd of the one article. Someone else might want to ask for qd of the other article, if not an outright block is out of the question. Good luck while i fix other articles. Thanks. 2001:2020:315:A7A4:6414:4835:B3BD:6B3F (talk) 16:10, 7 February 2025 (UTC)

Protection request
[change source]Hi, Could someone protect Maan (caste) and Chandel please as there's an edit war between 2 IPs,
I'm assuming 103.46.201.212 is correct in removing the content as the person that keeps adding the content has been doing so under different IPs and an account, Thanks –Davey2010Talk 17:15, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
- *heavy sigh* Thanks Davey, both articles are now semi-protected. If you notice edit warring on any other caste articles, please let us know. Griff (talk) 17:37, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @Griffinofwales, No worries and okay will do - I've pretty much ignored whatever they were doing on the caste articles but 103s edit summaries caught my eye and yeah didn't want the wrong person blocked, Anyway no worries thanks for actioning this, Many thanks, Warm Regards, –Davey2010Talk 18:26, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
69.156.206.236
[change source]69.156.206.236 is still copying articles from enwiki without simplifying the language, even after two temporary blocks. jlwoodwa (talk) 04:36, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the notice. The user has been blocked. Griff (talk) 22:36, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
- 2601:586:CC00:E0B0:7C6D:174D:855F:39E is doing the same thing, and with articles of the same type (e.g. animation studios). I think this is the same person using a different IP. jlwoodwa (talk) 09:46, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
- Blocked as well, thanks for the report. Griff (talk) 22:59, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
Kelly299 and 93.182.105.236 - block request
[change source]So Kelly299 creates an account and immediately replaces images of tanks with Turkish ones and then starts replacing pizza images with Turkish pizzas as well as removing "Greek" from types of Pizzas[24][25][26]
Two minutes later 93.182.105.236 joins in in the edit war removing the same content[27][28][29][30],
In the edit war Kelly has claimed the content is racism and the IP is claiming "keeping Greek instead of Turkish is nationalist POV",
The IP has also made previous Greek-to-Turkish replacements:[31],
I'm assuming Kelly is the IP and I'm assuming the IP is an LTA or someone, Anyway could these be blocked please, Thanks –Davey2010Talk 16:32, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
- 93.182.105.236 has been blocked, imho Kelly should be too due to their unhinged POV editing, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 16:34, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Davey2010 the IP has been blocked already but Auntof6. Things were turning heated on a simple article, I was to the point of edit war was happening between me and the IP. I am more calmer now, I was kinda passive aggressive with the changes. But the IP is now blocked and it's done with. Thanks - Adelaide 𝓐𝓭𝓮𝓵𝓪𝓲𝓭𝓮 (𝓽𝓪𝓵𝓴 ♡ 𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓫𝓼) 16:37, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
- Kelly has stopped editing for now. Final warning given. Let us know if they resume editing in a problematic manner. Thanks for the report, Griff (talk) 23:06, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @Griffinofwales, No worries and brilliant thank you :), Thanks, Warm Regards, –Davey2010Talk 23:11, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
Protection request
[change source]Hi, Could someone indefinitely protect List of programs distributed by Qubo (block) please to match List of programs broadcast by Qubo (block),
These articles are LTA/sock magnets and are created by IPs who simply add made up content, Both articles redirect to the main parent article so there should be no need to edit them, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:39, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
Done.- FusionSub (Talk page) (Contributions) 18:44, 9 February 2025 (UTC)

tampering of pages listing coups d'etat and attempts
[change source]On the articles “list of coups and coup attempts by country”, “list of coups and coup attempts” and “list of coups and coup attempts since 2010” a user by the name tgeorgescu (and possibly a few others) has been editing the articles to claim some some very recent political events are indeed coups, as well as some historical events, even tho there is nothing to corroborate these claims.
These include:
The 2019 Bolivian political crisis
The Romanian Revolution
The Abkhazian Revolution
Euromaidan
Claims by Serb Prime minister Vucic that there was a coup against him in 2024
Claims by Slovak Prime minister Fico of a coup against him
The 2024 Bangladesh Revolution
Coup allegations in Georgia
Accusations that the president of Romania is doing a self coup
All of these edits seem to be done for the purpose of a specific political agenda. I talked to Georgescu about his inclusion of Euromaidan, stating that it was a common argument of russian propagandists to paint it that way. he responded by claiming a revolution and coup are the same thing. I childishly responded by telling him to fuck off and that he was a tankie (disgraceful on my part). He kept repeating his claims in response.
A few days Before I learned of Georgescu’s edits, I noticed some vandalism of these articles, and then uprgraded the protection level for the last two articles I mentioned before. This has not worked. I contacted a user named Vrotsky who thanked me for an edit the other day, about the situation. He said the following:
"Hello, dear user. Yes, I've noticed the addition of controversial content to the various coup d'état wikilists - and it's much worse than it seems. These lists are recently receiving massive edits by IP users and sockpuppets. And it goes far beyond Euromaidan - they've added content about the Arab Spring revolutions, the 2000s-2010s 'Color Revolutions' and modern protests to the list. I'm one of the users who is trying to preserve the page's neutrality, but a lot of content was added in a short time. Well, there are several ways to combat vandalism on Wikipedia. In this case, you can use the WP:Coup argument or start a session on the article's talk page. If you suspect a user is making disruptive edits or vandalism, you can report them. A common behavior of this type of user is to reinsert deleted content without providing an explanation."
Another problematic user is Cobra Portuga, who is making the same sort of edits and only replies in Portugese when questioned about this.
I request that Georgescus and Cobra Portugals edits in general be reviewed, and for them to be banned. Sorry about the wall of text Bird244 (talk) 00:07, 10 February 2025 (UTC)

Update to filter 42
[change source]The filter should have the name changed to Adding links to other language Wikipedias
. The tag should have the same name as the new filter name, and the tag article with links to other-language wikis?
should be deactivated or deleted. I added another regex line to exclude changes that are logged by Special:AbuseFilter/115 (attempts to cite Wikipedia itself).
wikipedia := "(?<!simple\.|simple\.m\.)\bwikipedia\.org\b"; reference := "<\s*ref[^\/]*>[^<]*wikipedia\.org"; page_namespace == 0 & !("autoconfirmed" in user_rights) & added_lines rlike wikipedia & !(removed_lines rlike wikipedia) & !(added_lines rlike reference) /* covered by filter 115 */

[change source]Good afternoon. A request for deletion is currently open for Category:American_bisexual_people. It has been open since January 29th.
